Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport at a glance

Formerly called the Montreal-Dorval airport, the Montreal Trudeau is the main airport of the Greater Montréal which also serves Quebec, Northern New England and Eastern Ontario. Managed by the Aeroports de Montreal, this is the busiest airport of Quebec. There are about 40 carriers that were able to transport 11million passengers in 2006 to their respective destinations. This international airport became the major hub between Europe and Canada. This airport officially opened on November 29, 1975 and was renamed finally as Montreal Trudeau International airport on the 1st of January 2004.

Expansion of the Airport

Major expansion of the Montreal Trudeau airport happened on February 2000 with a budget of C$1716 million. This major expansion was made to keep up with other Northern America airport in terms of size. Since there has been influx on the airport passengers, the terminal was expanded to accommodate a large number of passenger which averages to about 7 million per year. This expansion is projected to serve about 20 million passengers annually.
