The pride of Montréal, this serene retreat is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of city life. This park seems to be a far cry from the teeming city where it is housed.
Its origin can be traced as far back as 1876, when Frederick Law Olmsted designed the park. In the year 2001, this renowned park celebrated its 125th anniversary amidst gay festivities.
The park is the favorite haunt of those who want to enjoy in the lap of unspoiled nature. It is an ideal venue to enjoy all sorts of winter sports and other outdoor activities.
Chief downtown access points are from Parc Jeanne- Mance (Parc Ave northwest of Ave des Pins), and at Ave des Pins and Drummond St, just west of Royal Victoria Hospital. Beaver Lake features skating, tobogganing, and even a small ski hill and chairlift, while Mount Royal Cemetery is one of the continents largest.
You can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities like cycling, hiking, picnicking, paddle- boating, sledding, cross- country skiing, snowshoeing, skating and plain old lazing around. You can explore its many hidden footpaths which meander through the forest.
Hours: Dawn- dusk daily.
