Theatre is one of the oldest forms of entertainment known to man. The National Theatre school teaches you the art of enacting a theatre along with the finer nuances of acting. It was founded in 1960 and occupies a historic venue, the Monument National, on Saint Lawrence Boulevard as well as a building in The Plateau district, on St. Denis and Laurier streets.
Founded by director Michel St. Denis the National Theatre School of Canada is the leading theatre training school in Canada. It offers professional training in all the major theatre arts in both English and French. It teaches all the arts associated with theater under one roof. It also instills in the students a respect for their rich cultural heritage.
NTS students acquire a strong base in traditional techniques, skills, and methods of learning that will serve them throughout their lives in and outside the theatre. It invites the public to take a nostalgic journey into the city's past through the Monument National's history. Several generations of renowned actors and directors have emerged from this school. There are eight productions every year: four in English and four in French.
The plays normally run from Tuesday- Saturday. Admission: CAD5.
Payment Method: Visa, Master Card, American Express.
