Just For Laughs Festival

As the name suggests, this festival makes you forget the stress and grind of everyday life and double up with laughter, the panacea for all ills. It causes a laugh riot by bringing some of the finest comic shows.

The man behind the success of this festival is Gilbert Rozon. He wanted to bring together comic artists and the public under one roof. The festival came into being in July 1983. For four days, 16 francophone artists gave 35 shows in four venues across Montreal, before a total crowd of about 5000 people.

Twenty- three years later, over 700 artists from around the world perform before over 2 million spectators every summer, in more than 20 venues and along St. Denis Street. Television shows are broadcast internationally to millions of viewers.

Montreal spills with laughter in the10 days of the festival in mid summer comedy shows bring you some of the world's best comic acts. The festival comes to a close with a spectacular big event held at the Grand- Place- Loto Quebec. It draws millions of visitors daily.
