Biennale de Montreal

Biennale de Montreal is a festival celebrating contemporary art. It promotes art from Quebec, Montreal and various regions of the world.

This festival is promoted by The Centre International d'art Contemporain de Montréal (CIAC). It was founded in 1983 a non profit organization devoted to contemporary art.

Aside from the organization of major events, the CIAC has been responsible for the production of an electronic arts magazine, solo exhibitions and a writing contest first intended for students, now opened to the general public.

Since 1984, the centre has presented to a general audience the most prominent figures of the contemporary art scene, allowing over 500,000 people to see and appreciate the work of some 800 artists.

This annual festival of contemporary art is one of the highlights on Montreal's artistic calendar. Dozens of artists from around the world submit works based loosely around a theme and technique.

The festival unfolds the vivacity and raw power on novel art pieces which strives to say something different and generate new ideas.
