Musee d' Art Contemporian presents cutting edge cotemporary art. It is renowned for displaying controversial pieces of art. It houses a priceless collection of works by Canadian artists.

Another of its prime attractions is its outdoor sculpture garden whose exhibits are changed seasonally giving you something new to see, each time you visit the museum.

It was established way back in 1964 as a branch of the Ministere des Affaires Culturelles du Quebec, the museum was operated by the provincial government before finally being granted an independent board of directors in 1983. Located adjacent to the Place- des- Arts ever since 1992, the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Arts presents a series of multimedia activities and exhibitions including experimental theatre, modern dance, as well as contemporary music, video and film performances. It strives to promote and preserve contemporary Quebec art. Featuring a permanent collection of over 6,000 works by more than 1,500 different artists, the museum also plays host to various traveling and temporary exhibitions by Canadian and international artists throughout the year; the museum also contains the world's most expansive collection of works by the renowned Paul- Emile Borduas.
